Triumph TR6 - Windscreen install

I am installing my windscreen after a restoration with some difficulty. It was tight during removal and seems difficult to refit.
The frame is down to within 1/2 in. on passenger side and very, very tight. I am almost afraid that I might strip the threads.
On the driver side the frame is settling in nicely with normal torque.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Jon,
Did you remove and paint the bracket through which the threaded arm of the wind screen fits? If so and if you also painted the arm, you may only have paint interference. The arm in the bracket is ordinarily a pretty tight fit. I'd suggest that you remove the windscreen and check for obvious galling on the right side. You may need to remove the bracket and dry fit it off the car; satisfy yourself that it indeed will fit, then reinstall the bracket and perhaps liberally lubricate the arm as it fits back into the bracket. Good luck.

Great advice from Doug. It is also important that you not let one side go down further than the other. They should be nudged down a little on each side otherwise you may get binding as it twists.

I did not remove the bracket but I believe the arm was lightly painted when the frame was painted.

Here is the answer to your problem. Works everytime.
