Triumph TR6 - Windscreen Removal
Ok. Due to a small knick in the windscreen (PO had removed the wiper blade, and I let go of the wiper arm when I was taking it off (good spring)). I have decided to remove the whole screen assembly, and send it to the local "Apple Auto Glass" for repair rather than leave it on the car. Question? Is there only one retaining bolt per side? And is it that simple just to take out these bolts and lift the assembly (with help of course) off the body? Les |

Les You also need to remove the 3 bolts (captive nut) at the base of inside the windscreen. They hold the front edge of windscreen in place along with the fasteners for the tonneau cover. Also try to get a good "handle" on where the 2 main bolts and brackets are positioned. This is your windscreen frame allignment for side windows and top (hood). Rick C |

Rick Thanks for the advice, perhaps I should get the repair man to do the repair in situ. Les |

I pulled my windshield and frame out for the restoration and getting all the bolts out and loose is easy. However, the sealer that was used between the frame and the body made it a real !@#$% to get the frame un-stuck. Putting the glass back in with a new rubber surround/gasket was pretty easy with the rope method and soap. Henry |

Les I was going to suggest that but it sounds like you are doing a body off restoration. It does not sound easy. Lucky me....my project came with it removed:) Rick C |

Henry- What is the rope & soap method? I am having a difficult time getting the windscreen back all the way down. I also had a hard time getting the windscreen off. But now I can't get the windscreen back were it was before I removed it. Thanks Rick T |
