Triumph TR6 - Windscreen replacement

I finally got hold of a new molding set for my windscreen posts. To get things in place I need to take-out the windscreen and remove the screen frame from the car. I have a new windscreen rubber to re-install the window.

What is the preferred order of assembly?
Is it easier to re-install the window on the frame only and after this bolt the assembled frame to the car?
Or should I get the frame back on the car first before installing the window.

Are there other do’s and don’ts I should be aware of?

I've replaced mine a couple of times and can't imagine doing it with the frame off the car.
I used the nylon rope method and PLENTY of KY Jelly. Have a friend to push. Be patient. Lube the gasket and the frame so that it'll slide in. Make sure the new gasket isn't stuck together where it goes over the frame.
You need to remember to use PLENTY of whatever lube you pick!!
I've found that to install the trim strip, I dull a plastic knife and force liquid detergent in the slot and the strip will "pop" in.
Be careful! It easy to rip the gasket and don't use anything metal to try and move the gasket. The window will crack. DAHIKT
Finally, Lube the hell out of it.

Erik- I say pay someone $50 American Dollers and call it good, then install it to the car. No worries!

I went to church at easter, this should get close to your 50 US$.
Combining the "Lube & Blessings" should get me there.

I did it with the frame off the car on the living room floor [the wife was out!], used the rope method, found it quite easy except for the last corner which was a bit tight.
I didn't use lube to install the rubber in case I needed to use sealant later but I did use it for the insert.
It would definately be a lot easier if you used lube.

Ron,

At present the screen is installed without any sealant.
Although I try to avoid driving in the rain I have not seen any leaks confronting my TR with Dutch weather conditions. I assume sealant will not be needed.

Interesting option, ... the living room floor. I will check the wife’s shopping schedule :-)
