MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - 1967 BGT Costello frt end
Hello, I bought this car at a KC all Brit car show in 1999, it at one time was being put together in St Louis by Robin W. He sold it "sight unseen" to the guy I bought it from, "all there- needs to be assembled". well as you all know.. it was far from being all there., any way it needs to go. I have spent over 3000.00 on the body work. still in prime and needs blocked. still have the Costello front end on it. I can post it on ebay if you all think that is the best way to go ., I am in the middle of putting together a list of parts of what I have left. ALL advise will be appreciated. thanks kevin |

Bit confused: I know who Ken Costello is. Costello was not doing V8 conversions in 67. (I stand to be corrected mayhaps) What is a "Costello Front end"? Your post sounds like you are selling a 67 shell with finished bodywork and some kind of aftermarket front sheet metal. Is this correct? Pics? Pete |

sorry Pete, it is a 1967 BGT shell. the Costello frt end looks real close to the frontline style with Bilstein? front shocks. I do have a few pics I can send, and would more than happy to give you a call. the date I purchased it was 1997 not 1999.kevin |

In 1995-96 time frame, Ken was going to sell a specialised front crossmember for the MGB. Rob Weatherall was a business partner with Ken in a venture on Olive in St.Louis called the MG Centre . He used numerous Costello designed technologies in his conversion(s). Rob completed one roadster conversion in 1993 (a green tourer that I believe is now on the East Coast)and was working on this GT conversion when the shoppe closed in 1995. Last time I saw it, he had begun spraying the inner doors and engine compartment (time tends to fade memory, though). He was painting it an MGRV8 red. Ken brought a prototype of his crossmember to MG96 in Indianapolis. I don't know if he took orders/sold any units at that time. This particular crossmember would be somewhat rare in the United States. Your history lesson for today. rick |

yep thats the one. the car when I bought it was to have a 3.9 rover with the Costello FI plenum. turned out to be a real old 3.5 that need more work then it was worth. SOLD THAT!! to a guy in MO. Yes the engine compartment was almost a cherry red. now the whole body has been redone and the bay is now black. I can send pics to anyone that might what them., thanks for all the info. kevin, PS now what to I do with it., ex- wife needs more money?? |

Kevin, drop us a line at the KCMGCC and get it listed in the next newsletter and mentioned at our next meeting next Tuesday. http://www.kcmgcc.com/index.html Most of us know the car's history, someone may be interested. Don't forget about the KC All British next month also, might find a buyer there. |
