bob. i have a 1973 2800 ford v6 froma german capri in my wifes mga, there was a very nice mgb gt for sale last summer on ebay that had a 2800 in it with the same tranny you have, it was for sale by a dealer, also try and contact bill guzman as i believe he has this in his bgt also, i think the 2300 and 2800 are pretty similar blocks? i have had some heating issue yet to be fully resolved with my wifes car, jim |

thanks for your input jim i put a 2.8 from a 73 capri in my buddys 88 dodge ram 50 about 5 years ago and when i stated this mg i tried to get it back but could not. that is a great motor being that it is made in germany. this 2.3 fits great so faf i havnt started to do the drive line yet. did you use the mg rear-end or a ford? thanks again for your input bob |

bob, mine has a c4 automatic and we have a gm rear end, i am not sure of the ratio, this is one thing i am going to change out before driving this year as it is too high, and along with the auto it has ac, like i said, wifes car. i have been dealing with the heat issues since last spring, are you using the offy manifold and the 390 holley with yours? what distrbutor are you using? feel free to email me off line if you like, jim |

Seems to be some mis-information in this thread unless I'm not following correctly. The 2300 is a 4-cylinder all metric engine made in Ohio. The 2600 and the 2800 are the German 60 degree V6s with solid lifters, with the 2800 last used in the 1979 model year. Wayne |

you are correct, my misread, i was referring to the 2.6, jim |

Bob, I looked into this extensively. A great engine and a very fast combo. The turbo engine is the ticket. A regular 2.3 is very average. The turbos are very hard to find around here because we hav a ton of dirt track racers who love the engines as starters for their race engines. Because of availability and engine height i decided on the 3.4 GM V6 instead. See Turboford.org and Mark Matejka's site at geocities.com/gocartmg or gocartmg@aol.com. He built a very quick 2.3 turbo B roadster. Chris |

i have a 1977 mgb that has a cracked cylinder head. i am interested in putting a v6 into it. if you have any information or advice that you would consider helpful i would greatly appreciate it. i live in northwestern pa and have a hard time finding parts or even dealing with anyone familiar with my car. |

Toby, you need to get in touch with Bill Guzmann. He makes kits to install V6 engines into MGB's and has all the information you would need. I don't have a current link to his web site, but here is a link to the MG Engine conversion web site which features one of his cars. http://www.mgcars.org.uk/v8_conversions/files/fordv6/fordv6.htm |
