I know someone wants this, I'm too deep into the Buick project to change now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33613&item=2420016943 |

"The part number indicates that it is a 351, bit the measurements of the blockl suggest that it is a 302." Sounds like you better do your home work before you bid on this one. |

That is one of the Nascar blocks, they are right between a 302 and 351 deck hieght. THat means niether units intakes would fit, though you can get spacers for the 302 units to fit. However for our cars that means less hood clearance.. BUT, that is one sweet block.. |

This is an aluminum 351 SVO block with a 9.5 nom height. Max overbore 4.125 in., capable to 454 CID. Four Bolt main bearing caps on all mains. Dry sump only. Ductile iron sleeves. Siamese bore configuration for greater block rigidity and strength. This means there is solid metal between the cylinder bores, with no water passages. Has smaller 351C size (2.749" diameter) main bearin journals, which reduces friction and heat when compared with production 351W or 460 journals (3.000" diameter). Wayne |

Weight savings on the aluminum blocks is only about 30 lbs isn't it? That's a hella expensive 30 lbs. BUT.... 454 cid in an MGB with an almost small block ford motor..... YES PLEASE!!!!! I'd gladly chop up my hood for that.... LOL. =) Justin |

> That is one of the Nascar blocks, they are right between a 302 and 351 > deck height. The 289/302 and 5.0L Fords have a nominal deck height of 8.2". The 351C Fords have a deck height of 9.2" and the 351W Fords have a deck heigh of 9.5". NASCAR Winston Cup engines are typically the 9.2" Cleveland deck height for which a variety of intakes are available. SBF race blocks are available in 8.2", 8.7", 9.2", and 9.5". The 8.7" deck blocks are the oddballs which require custom intakes or spacers. > BUT, that is one sweet block.. Given it's unfinished nature, it is no bargain. > Weight savings on the aluminum blocks is only about 30 lbs isn't it? > That's a hella expensive 30 lbs. It depends upon the block and what you compare it to. I have a 9.2" deck (351C deck height) aluminum Fontana race block. It weighs in at 116 lbs. An iron 351C block comes in at around 172 lbs for a weight savings of 56 lbs. However, it is being used in place of a 9.2" deck iron race block which weighs around 200 lbs, so the savings is 84 pounds. A production iron 5.0L block is around 135 lbs. An F302 aluminum race block is around 92 lbs. R302 iron race block 160 lbs. > This is an aluminum 351 SVO block with a 9.5 nom height. Max overbore > 4.125 in., capable to 454 CID. Four Bolt main bearing caps on all mains. > Dry sump only. Ductile iron sleeves. Siamese bore configuration ... That's what the part number suggests it was intended to be but the deck has been severely milled. On the block pictured, the deck is just above the boss for the threaded hole above the circular hole on each bank. My 9.2" Fontana block looks to be an inch taller in that spot. At best, it's been milled to a 302's 8.2" deck height. Dan Jones |

UMMM, the weight quoted in the listing is allot more than30lbs like thought, more like 40-45lbs as I think a stock 5.0 block is in the 129lbs range.. Given that they are several thousand dollars from factory I think $710-1500 would be a great deal. Damn where's that lotto ticket!! |
