MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - back in the loop

Hello to everyone I've ignored for the past year, you know who you are.My life jumped the tracks for a while but now I am back to normal.Normal being a relative term.I have resurfaced in Danville Virginia, have my shop set up in an old Dodge dealership with a friend who rebuilds/restores/races vintage cars, which is what brought us here in the first place, close to VIR.I will be driving the old Ford to Townsend this year, after missing the past 4 events! She is the same color, only now has a T5 and a 302 of questionable displacement.I have also ignored her,it's been 6 months since I've even started her.But she rests comfortably in the showroom, insighting gaffs and finger pointing by the locals. But there is an undercurrent of British interest down here I'm glad to see.
I have written to Gil Price about hooking up with anyone coming down I-81 on the way to Townsend.I'll be staying in Abingdon that weekend and plan to leave from there if anyone else would like to convoy. It'll be great to meet everyone again.Even Carl.

"So where is Danville?"

Danville is on the NC border, on Route 29, between Lynchburg and Greensboro, about 4 hours from DC...

IMHO, the section of 29 between Charlottesville and Lynchburg is a particularly nice drive.
Curtis

It's one of those places that you need a helicopter cause there's not a good direct route (from here anyway).

That's it , Dale. See if I ever buy you another sandwich in Vermont! :)
Carl Floyd

No, no, Carl, I meant that OTHER Karl. With a K. Sorry for the confusion :-) Guess I owe you a possum burger. Curtis's geography is accurate Jim, it takes about 4 hours to get to the 495 outer loop. Which I only navigate from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. if I take that route and not I-81. I feel a bit land-locked here as there are no interstates, but 29 north and south and 58/360 east and west are major roads so getting out of town is easy. Which I hope to do often. Greensboro is less than an hour away. Martinsville Speedway and the home of the Woods Bros is only 45 minutes. The Blue Ridge Pkwy is not that far west and I plan to explore that as much as possible, in MG or on bike. Any local knowledge of fun roads would be appreciated. I can't wait for the meet, and I WILL be there this year. I have to, I've run out of excuses....
Dale

Hi Dale. Burlington's much quieter now without you. Too bad!

Derek Nicholson

I look forward to seeing you Dale, its been a long time

Steve Carrick

Yes Steve, it's been too long. I am very much looking forward to this year. I might even start old paint one of these days to make sure she still fires on all eight. If we could talk Gil into bringing that wise guy Derek with him we'd have even more fun...
