MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - BOP/Rover firing order diagram
Anyone have a link that shows a picture of the BOP engine block and distributor with the firing order. I used to have that link but can't find it any more and wanted to print out that diagram to keep as a reference in the car. We've had some vandalism at local car shows (hey this is NY) where kinds do everything from keying your car to pulling out all your plug wires to stealing your special tire valve stem caps. |

Well I found the diagram but not the website I had saved it on a Microsoft Home publishing document, seems to be of a 1963 Buick Special from a repair manual such as Chiltons, but no website is displayed on my copy. |

Michael, It's the same as the good, ol' small block Chevy (not Gen. III, though). |

Let me know if you want the rover diagram as a JPEG |

The factory V8 has the firing order moulded into the inlet manifold - 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2 clockwise. The Workshop Manual shows the leads being run through the combs such that No. 3 lead is between Nos. 5 and 7 leads, to prevent premature firing of 7 which immediately follows 5. |

Michael, Is this what your looking for? http://www.zaks.com/mgb/ Scroll to the bottom of the left hand column and select "215 engine specs". One of the 3 pages contains a diagram with the firing order. |

Rick that is probably the page but it comes up: "The page cannot be displayed" I did have that link but could not get it to work either, have you tried it? AS I said I found a copy of the dagram on my computer and have reprinted it. I know/knew the firing order but just for a quick reference I like to have the diagram with me in my Original Post I said we have been having some kids screwing around with our cars at certain shows/cruises. Paul said "The Workshop Manual shows the leads being run through the combs such that No. 3 lead is between Nos. 5 and 7 leads, to prevent premature firing of 7 which immediately follows 5." Yes I heard that too and loom my wires that way to avoid premature firing. Thanks again everyone! |

Michael, That site is OK. I can open the site directly from the e-mail post I sent you. There was some problem on this board a number of weeks ago when some people couldn't acces a site and others could. I believe Larry finally discovered that there are options to indiviual displays that can affect this. Regardless you should be able to type in the site and access it(I don't see why that would be a problem, but I'm no computer whiz). So I don't see why your original link doesn't work. I'll send a jpg to your e-mail. |

Works OK for me. Wayne |

I have that firing order burnt into my mind as a rhymesical rendition. I also have the following M.I.T. cheerleaders chant dedicated to memory.."sine-cosine-cosine-sine, three point one four-one five nine". (3.14159) Incidentally, the following may interest some. It is a web site titled, "Britneys (Spears) guide to semi-conductor physics" Here is the link.. http://britneyspears.ac/lasers.htm |

When I eliminated the last / it worked for me: http://www.zaks.com/mgb Yes that is the diagram that I have but I'm not sure if that is the site I originally got it from. Thanks much. |
