I made my reservation a few minutes ago. The reservation lady had a little trouble, as her computer showed the event attendees as arriving Thursday June 9. I made the reservation for arrival Wednesday, June 8. Are there activities on Thursday, aside from reception, bench racing and the preliminary beverage induced liver battering? If Thursday will be a full activities day, the hotel may want to change thier computer to show a four night stay event.
Just spent two days preping the block for the new engine. As soon as the new cam bearing and main cap studs get here, assembly will begin. I promise, no backfiring at the race track this year!!!!
Kurt Schley

Kurt, What no more Redneck Racin'! It was fun watching everyone duck, until they figured out it was just you back firing>

Can't wait !!! Barney

I made my reservations too. I also had a lot of trouble with the reservationist. When I gave her the group ID number, she had no idea what that was. When I mentioned MGV8, she had no idea what that was either. When I told her we had a block of 60 rooms set aside, she told me they were all filled.

After putting me on hold for about five minutes, while she checked with someone else, she came back with a room for me.

Oh, well, all's well that ends well - I hope! I quess I'll find out when I get there if I have a room or not. I'm bringing my grandson with me, so I'll be steamed If I don't.

Good day!

Communication problems often arise when using an 800 number or general reservations number. I would advise calling the hotel directly....this should eliminate problems.

I will also have Dave Kirkman, who lives in Terre Haute, a call and have him look into this personally.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Rick,

I did call the motel directly. My guess is the girl (she sounded young, but that can be deceiving) was new and wasn't completely familiar with procedures. After she talked with someone else, the problems went away (I think).

I'm looking forward to a great time, and no motel problem is going to spoil that for me. My grandson can hardly wait. After we leave there, we're taking a week long tour of Canada and the American northeast.

Any advice from my Canadian friends on what to see in Canada? Tentatively, we plan to enter Canada at Windsor, and exit at Niagara Falls. Our plans are flexible though, as long as we get to Niagara.
Dan Masters

OK....I just got off the phone with the Sales Director at the Holiday Inn.

The block of rooms is listed under MG V EIGHT

The group code listing is MGVCN

The block of rooms begins on Wednesday, June 8,2005.

I still advise using the direct phone number.

You must have your reservation made my May 9,2005 in order to get the convention room rate!

Sorry for the confusion...but I believe that this will clarify things better for all involved!

Regards...
