MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - British V8 Meet 2007

Hi Guys,
The hotel has been finalized for the 2007 British V8 Meet. It is the Days Inn in Willoughby, Ohio (about 20 miles east of Cleveland) Check-in is Wednesday, August 1 with check-out Saturday August 4. The rate is 71.10 + tax and because of the number of rooms reserved (50 at this time), reservations must be made by June 1 to guarantee a room. The rooms are reserved under "British V8 Meet" and this must be mentioned to reveive the discounted rate. There will probably be rooms still available after June 1 even when the 50 room reservation is exceeded (at the $71.10 rate)plus there is a Red Roof Inn right across the street.
Nelsons Ledges road race track is reserved for us for Thursday, August 2. The cost is only $75.00/car, thanks to the generous sponsoring of the tracktime by Pete Mantell (Mantell Motorsports)
I am working on the autocross arrangements, but it looks good for either Friday or Saturday at a community college about 1/4 mile from the hotel.
I will post updates regularly.

I'll be there.

Who knows....the V8 *might* even make it this year...

(Anyone holding their breath?!?!?!?!?!)

I'll be there too.

I'll be there. Thank you Kurt - and Pete!!!
Curtis

Kurt, Amy and I plan to attend I feel bad that I missed this year's meet due to a HTOB problem that has since been rectified. (Leaking ss hose that was replaced without removing the transmission.)
Michael S. Domanowski

I will be there as well. Too bad you couldn't schedule the event for a hot part of the summer(ha ha).
Jim Stuart

Also a good thing that the Brickyard 400 has been rescheduled!

:-)

Can't wait!

Thanks, Pete (you shouldn't have, but plan to enjoy it, anyway)!
Carl Floyd

Will fly this time, can afford to be off 22 days.
Can I run the reantal car on the track? If I can I take my gear.

Let me know if you need help.
Bill Guzman

What are you going to rent Bill?
Speaking of which, can my brother run his TR-4a on the track if he comes? It's stock. So far that is... I *have* got him to work on a megasquirt for it though.

Jim
Jim Blackwood

Barney will be there, he'll probably bring me along :))
Bill, I'd let you take barney for a few hot laps, but you might get spoiled, and I don't want to pull that many plug wires :))))

Steve
Steve Carrick

I am thinking of a V6 Mustang Jim.

That would be great Steve, I will bring my own water pump gaskets:-) and yes, we would have to remove 2 plug wires I can't count pass 6 LOL

I would love to Steve, thanks.
Bill Guzman

I'll be there! And, if all goes well, I'll be driving my MGBGT V8 this time.

Kurt - if I can help in any way, let me know.

You do know that people live west of the mississippi? It would be nice to have a meet on the west coast somewhere.

Jim

I thought you guys were going to form a west coast chapter and have a meet? Some of us would be there.

Peter, sorry my mistake. The steering mod I did wasn't too tricky, just have to know someone with a lathe. Done like the old timey way of shortening axle shafts.

Jim
Jim Blackwood

"Can I run the rental car on the track?"

Rental?!

You are supposed to bring the race car. 10-11 days round trip including the Meet. Piece o' cake. ;)
Carl Floyd

"You do know that people live west of the mississippi? It would be nice to have a meet on the west coast somewhere."

All it takes to have a meet anywhere is for someone to step up to the plate and volunteer to set it up. Every single meet we've had was the result of a lot of hard work by volunteers, receiving nothing in return for their efforts other than the satisfaction of seeing a bunch of car nuts grinning from ear-to-ear.

Bill Guzman has set up California meets in the past, in addition to the eastern meets. He may be doing the same next year.

If you want a meet on the west coast, it's up to you. All you have to do is say the word and get to work making the arrangements. You announce the time and place, and we'll be there.

btw, at the last meet, we had two people drive all the way from Cailfornia, several from Canada, one from Texas, one from Wisconsin, and from other distance places (one from England, one from France, and one from Australia - naturally, they flew in, rather than driving, but they were here!)
Dan Masters

a bit far in the future, but we have set a date open for this event. Hope to make it up and visit with the guys!
look forward to seeing all the new friends again.

Glad we did not meet another like you coming down the highway from Newfoundland Gap as we went up, Carl, it would have a been a disaster & tragedy also!

See you there Kelly???

Great Richard! first, set started and then do one small chore a day, you'll be surprised at your progress toward completetion. it does not matter if the chore is actually work or securing a item you will need later, Just keep plugging away!

Hi Guys,
Sorry for not responding to some of the questions earlier. I have been out of town on buisiness and am leaving Wednesday again. Funny how work always seems to interfere with the important stuff!
Bill - If the rental car will stand up to it, bring it to the track.
Jim - Your brothers TR is more than welcome!
Thanks for all the offers for help. I will probably take some of you up on that as plans progress.
Kurt Schley

Bump......to the top.

Kurt, Do you have a phone number for the Days Inn?

Lyle
Lyle Jacobson

Lyle,
The phone number at the Days Inn is 440-946-0500. Be sure and mention the British V8 show! Anyone interested in some info on the roadrace track , visit www.nelsonsledges.com. Sue and I are now working on a draft agenda so we can get the registration forms together. Sue would like to get some "tech" sessions for the women together. Anyone bringing a wife, girlfriend (or both) who has a hobby/skill which would be of interest to the ladies and would be willing to do a tech session?
