MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Buick Tranny
I am putting a 1984 buick v6 into a tr6 and i'm trying to find a 5spd manual tranny to go with this engine. any info would be appreciated. |

5 speed gearbox from a TR7 will fit with the appropriate bellhousing. |

If you're thinking LT77 will bolt to the V6 block, I believe you are mistaken. V6 and Alumnu V8's are different bellhousing bolt patterns. Unless of course you mean appropriate bellhousing is a custom part- but then, pretty much any 5 speed would work |

David, if you can find a bellhousing for a GM 4 speed then the T5 will bolt up but not at the 17 degree angle that was used in the Camaro or Firebird. Check with Lakewood, as I believe that they make a housing which is drilled for both bolt patterns. |

The Chevy Monza used a five-speed that bolted to the standard GM pattern without the tilt. I think the transmission was a Borg-Warner T50 and used a less common shift pattern where the forward position of the shifter is R-2-4 and the rear position of the shifter is 1-3-5. |

T-50's are somewhat rare and also don't have a very high torque rating (225 foot pounds IIRC) however they were used with the Buick design V6 in some Buick Skyhawks, Pontiac Sunbirds, and Olds Starfires which were the same body as the Chevy Monza so the bellhousings would be of help. |
