MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - clutch went dead

I went out to the car Saturday started it up first time in 20 days.I pushed in the clutch nothing there. Looked in the clutch master, filler was empty. I know it was full when I put it up because I topped of the brakes and just a little in the clutch. I filled it up saturday and bleed it by myself and drove it five miles. The master has no signs of leaking so it must be my slave cylinder. The question is with only 3000 miles since the V8 conversion whats up with that. I have never put fluid in the clutch since installing the V8.

What setup are you running? Rover trans with slave, or T5 or what?
Justin

A hydraulic system can develop a leak at any time, and because of the 'bathtub' curve of failure distribution there is more likelyhood of getting a failure early in the typical lifespan than in the middle. It could have been leaking for a while but not dropped below the critical point until some time in the last 20 days. Unlike oil I have noticed that hydraulic fluid can 'dry' and leave little sign on a concrete, at least, floor after a relatively short time. There should still be drips below the leak, though. Unless the flex hose is new replace that with the slave.

Justin it is a SDI unit with an lt77 trans that came off of a TR7. The hose is new stainless steel set up. I just went out to check the cluch and it is still working. I will set something underneath to see if I get any leaking. Its funny we ran out of cars do to overheating and son took other car to OU halloween party to visit his brother, so the wife drove the MG that day and was the last to drive it. I'm sure this has nothing to do wit it. Except now she want's to drive it more often. All the men at work were very interested in it. Denny

Denny

Are you sure they were only interested in the V8!!! Cars like ours are a good ice-breaker for chatting to the driver and if she happens to be female..........

I'm looking forward to cruising in my recently acquired factory V8 when the sun and the ladies reappear next spring!

Real men drive their V8 MGB's year around. Maybe not in snow over 10"....
