MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Correct V8 badging
'V8' wing badge. Should it be left side only or both left and right? |

Richard, left hand side only |

Richard, David, et al Remember that left side only applies to the BL "plughole" badge as well. I have read that there were a series of 4 or 5 "concours notes" published in Safety Fast magazine some years back, that detail the exact placement of the V-8 badges on the grille (chrome bumper cars), left side, and rear hatch. I would like to see if I could get copies of these. Since my car was repainted in the past, I have no way of knowing if the badge placement was correct. Before I call up the MGCC office in Abingdon, does anyone out there have these articles, or if your car has original paint, maybe I could get some reference measurements? My bare bodyshell repairs/repaint is coming along quickly, I should get it back in a month or so. The engine comes back this weekend. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Cheers and Thanks in advance, Paul Kile Factory V-8 Nut from across the Pond |

Yes, the V8 Workshop Notes were first published in the V8 column in SF, later collected together and sold in 5 volumes by the V8 Register, and usefully indexed too. I have them. - Paul, I will look out the badge-specific info. Sorry, I don't have a scanner so email me a fax number..... |

"I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!" Make sure it isn't a train coming the other way! PaulH. |

Paul, found the one for the side badges. Will fax tomorrow. The booklet collections of notes seem to have stopped around 1988 so it's a case of trawling thu' SFs to find the rest. I do have all the mags filed too, but if anyone has a good memory and can point me in the right time period it would be appreciated... |

David, Thanks for the info! I got the fax yesterday. I should be able to make up some cardboard templates based on those measurements. I think I will work off the lower edge of the side moulding, rather than the centreline as noted on the diagram, allowing for the few millimeters difference. That way, I can just lay the template along the edge of the strip. And Paul H., I will try to dodge the trains! Cheers, Paul Kile |
