Looks like a rover LT77 5 speed to me (Triumph tr7 and tr8) Justin |

In all likelyhood, this is the transmission from Rob Weatherall's MGB V8 conversion done in 1993. rick |

Respectfully disagree w/ Justin- my LT 77 has a front bearing cover (and matching bellhousing) with an irrecgular profile- not round as shown in the pix. And it doesn't have Costello cast into the gearcase |

greg, I believe that Justin was answering my question as to what internal parts were used. It's most likely that the guts were sourced from a common gearbox and stuffed into his case. David |

Caveat emptor.... I received the following from Rob Weatherall of St.Louis: Subj: Re: Costello gearbox Date: 7/22/03 10:29:05 AM Central Daylight Time From: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX To: Mowog1@aol.com Sent from the Internet (Details) Hi Rick, yes, this is the gearbox that failed in 1997. Ken looked at it and took the parts that broke up to try and assess why it failed. It seized up and a lot of the internals broke up. Ken sent me a new box as there was nothing usable in the old one. The only use for this box is as a museum piece. It cannot be repaired. Rob |

Sorry Justin and Dave- my bad. I really should read the question before I give an answer |
