MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Diff strength

hi all, i am building a very hot mgb with a nissin sr20det engine (2L turbo in time wanting about 300 bhp)and wondering how you think the standard MG B diff will hold up, with bigger sticky tyres? i'm putting sebring rear flares on so wanna go rather big on the rubber. How big can you go on 15"'s?
Is there a good swap where LSD and disc brakes are avabiale? You help is much appreciated

Perry Stephenson has converted his original V8 to a drag racer with nitrous with about 275bhp, probably more now. He subsequently fitted a limited slip module to the diff and as I recall said there was no visible wear or twisting of the splines.

I have a Ford/Currie 9 inch w/31 spline axels, limited slip, Ford Explorer rear disk brakes, 3.00 : 1 final drive and emergency brake cost me about $2500.00 new back in 2002 or 2003 (plus i got a free T-shirt lol) It is now available in Aluminum.

He is in California USA

Andy, I am running 15 X 7 Konig Rewinds on my Sebring gt.......they are zero offset...the tires are 255 X 60 in the front and
245 X 60 in the rear...now, these are rediculously tall tires for anykind of handling, but I put them on the car back in the day when I was running a 90* V6 with a 3 speed auto tranny with no overdrive and the stock 3.9 differential...I was looking for anyway I could to lower my highway rpm's and this was part of my solution...just for the record, the one thing these tires do is fill up the wheel wells as evidenced by the fact that I can not get my index finger between the rear wheel flare and the tires (See Image)
Time moves on, I now have 3.9 V8, .73 overdrive, and a 3.07 differential....in the next few months I will be putting on 16" wheels with lower aspect ratio tires....

An early Nissan Skyline B/W diff is an option. There are heaps of ratios available from Commodores and Fords and lsd centres. . Skylines are 3.9 or 4.1 They already have disc brakes and the same stud pattern Simple job of shortening the housing is needed but with some carefull measuring, I think from memory it is 3 1/2 inches both sides then the short axle can be fitted to the long side and the long axle resplined 7 inches shorter for the short side. It is a good strong hassle free conversion To be sure of the measurements just measure the difference between the lengths of the std. axles and halve it then take that ammount out of each axle tube ,IFrom memory the overall length of the finished diff ends up about an inch longer than a std. B diff. Gary
