MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Engine In - The first photos!
Well, we finally got the engine and gearbox test fitted today, with surprisingly few issues! (Famous last words). You can read about it here : http://www.occpsy.demon.co.uk/v8build.html If there are any dud links or connection issues please let me know so I can fix. Thanks for all your help so far, enjoy. Strange - the sense of quiet you get when it all finally joins up. You just sort of stand there, looking at it, wondering what it all means. Liam. |

Liam, I don't know the history on your LT77 (ie. when it last ran, have you had it rebuilt or not, etc.) but I will pass along one bit of advice that I wish someone had told me about. There is a small o-ring located on the shifter rod that reaches into the 'box. This o-ring is only accessable when the rear case is removed. If you haven't already, change this o-ring! I didn't even know it was in there until the ATF started leaking out. I didn't have my 'box completely dismantled when it was out. Just had the oil pump changed (do this as well if not already done!). If you look on www.rimmerbros.co.uk go to SD1; gearbox; and click on the image. The o-ring is #UKC7 and the pump is #RTC2057A. Since this was a "trial-fit" for the engine/'box, I'll assume it's going to come out again. HTH Simon |

Thanks for the tip, Simon. Yes it's back out now. I (or someone) managed to snap the foot off the gear lever dust cover so I had to order one of those. Might sort this out at the same time. Liam |
