MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - FI For 4.6L

I am trying to decide on a FI setup for my conversion. Motor is a new RPI 4.6L Rover and I have an old Federal 3.5L FI setup from a 1980 SD1 sitting around. I do not plan to use the ECU from the federal system but had thought maybe I could use the manifold and plenum. The main reason being I have it and its easier to fit under the bonnet. Does the Federal manifold flow enough air for a 4.6L, Roger Parker?
Anyone know if the latter systems fuel rail can be used with the federal manifold? I prefer not using the old style injectors with all those extra hose clamps! For ECU I thought maybe a Ford setup like Jim Blackwood with Ford SVO injectors and sensors or maybe SDS.
Before everyone says just use the latter Rover hot wire setup, can it handle the 4.6L? I do not want to play with the GEMS system from the sounds of it.
Any comments or other ideas appreciated.

I'm very happy with the Ford parts so far. I go for an emissions check tomorrow and tags, and I'll report back after that on how it does out on the street. (Finally got insurance-yipee!) The down side of the Ford install is that it's a bit wiring intensive, but if Painless has a harness for say a 5L. Mustang I see no reason why it shouldn't work just fine. Be sure and use a Mustang processor for flexibility in future tuning. I hope to have a more specific recommendation in a matter of days.

Mike I have used the Rover Hot wire on 4, 4.2 rover motors in a rubber bumper B with NO hood mod.!!!!! I shorten the trumpet stack, make the motor sit as low as it can & I end up with .300 clearance under the hood to the top of the F/I. You will have to go to R.P.I. to get the right chip. With the stock E.C.U. from Ark. to De.At up to 90 mph. I did a true 24.5 mpg with the A/C on high. If you would like some more info. you can give me a call. If you have the gem. I might do some trade with you

Again let me emphasize: on the ford system make sure you use a supported processor (Mustang for instance) for tuning with a laptop.

I've clearly got more work to do on the ford system. Too rich to pass emissions, (have yet to tell the PCM it's feeding a 3.5L instead of a 4.6L) and a problem with it cutting out. If this was a Mustang processor I would have already made adjustments and have good driveability. The tuning process itself can be done by a copilot while underway, or a datalog can be used for those who prefer to take their time. Either a digital dash or analog interface are available and a wealth of tuning parameters.

Right now I'm waiting on more tuning info for my processor or a recommendation for a suitable replacement processor to swap in instead. Should have used Mustang.

Jim,
Sorry to hear your emisions test did not go as planed.
Mustang ECU is obviously the bettery way with your setup.
Good luck getting it sorted. What injectors did you use?

Stock 4.6L ford, possibly 19#. Should work well with the blower.
