MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - G tech 0-60

A friend came round tonight with a G-tech pro performance meter.
Quite a neat little divice that plugs into cig lighter.
Had 4 atempts at 0-60mph.
1. 4.89secs
2. 5.30secs
3. 5.12secs
4. 5.84secs
messed the last one up with too much wheelspin.
Amazing! wonder how accurate it is.

Interesting. I bought a G-Tech this winter but my car hasn't made it back on the road yet.
I am looking forward to giving it a try. Especially in caparison to my friends TR6.

Only problem with them is catching the 0-60 time before it continues on with the 1/4mile.
You've got to watch the road, watch the speedo to see how close you are, look back to the road to make sure you don't crash and then back to the G-tech to catch the time. Then remember to not take your foot off the gas to get that qtr mile speed.....

....Then brake like mad 'cos although the road you chose to do this on was 1/4 mile long, it had a big bend at the end and you're doing 90mph!
Stuart Robson

I stayed with the 0-60 time and didnt go on to the quater mile. When you reach 60 the time flashes up.
Important to level the device properly.

Won't the G-Tech calculate horsepower & torque too?

You can pick up older new in box G-tech units on e-bay for $26.95. Yes it does measure HP.

G-tech is very good. The most important part of calibrating the unit is to enter the correct info, weight etc. then leveling/orienting the unit as per instructions. Yes you can make the G-tech 2000 give you awsome numbers if the correct info is not enter.

Jim, Thanks for the heads up! I bought one on EBay and
received it in 4 days. Anxious to try it out but both
Bs are apart right now.

Jack,

You know better than that! Now go put ol' Yeller back together. Terre Haute is almost here.

Discloser: Due to helping coach 2 baseball teams, no way is a stout 3.9 getting built in time. I'll be waaaaay outgunned with my ol' 215. :(

See ya soon!

Jack: Tried my G-Tech out for the first time tonight. I won't report the one run that I did do on a local road but I can confirm that it does work and is accurate.

Just completed a job, which took longer then I expected. Moved the radiator forward 1.5 inches and installed an electric fan. Fan works great. Just need a hot day to do the conformation test.

Jim,

I bought one too, thanks for the tip. How did you mount it? It looks like it should be mounted in the center of a curved windshield so it is pointing exactly straight ahead but we have that center support in the way.

I only have one run so there isn't a lot of experience here. I just mounted to the right of the support. and set it up so the unit is level and the bottom just resting on the on the dash.

Jim, thanks for the e-bay link, I also bought one. Soon everyone will have G-tec numbers to post. ;-)

I never could get mine to work correctly it always said it was 8.0 sec or greater and that was even when I was racing & beating my friends worked 2003 Mustang Cobra.

At least I hope it wasn't correct.
