MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Gauges
I would like to change out my Tach and Speedometer. Does anyone have a good source for these? What are the sizes of the holes? If anyone has done this please let me know! Leroy |

Leray: Have a look at this website. I haven't changed my gauges yet but am looking. Anyone have any experience with Dolphin gauges? Phil http://www.dolphingauges.com/ |

I'm running VDO cockpit white gauges. 4" on the tach and speedo, and the smaller size on the surrounding gauges (dash was a '77 till I built a new one.) The white gauages are absolutely gorgeous, and stinkin bright at night. |

Leroy. What year MG?? I am using VDO in my 71 V6 conversion. They were the only ones I could find that would fit. They are 3 1/8in. dia. I got them from egauges.com They also sell Autometer. The price for electronic spedo and tach was less than the quote I got for restoring the old ones. Bob |

Check these guys out... I've had my eye on them wiating till that last part is installed! http://www.greengauges.com/ If memory serves; these guys used to be Smiths. They have a great interactive site and sizes that fit too! Good luck! Hal |

The tachometer is an Elliot Clubman, the speedometer an Eclipse (Smiths) without cable, I use the origin sensor to the LT77 gearbox, diameter 100mm. All bought to Demon Tweeks http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk regards http://membres.lycos.fr/mgcontact/fileupload/uploads/dashboard.jpg |

You can use the "std" gauges in 3 3/8" size. You will need to have a "ring" made to reduce the dash opening from the 100mm to the new size. I did this and it looks nice. paint the ring with crinkle paint, then again with flat black and they pretty much dissapear.. http://www.mgbconversions.com/images/my302/april2003/dash.jpg Larry |

I used the Bezel rings that hold the glass on the 4" gauges and made a ring for the back out of al., worked well and gives you more gauge options to choose from. I used TPI TECH and am happy with the results. |
