MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Gorgeous V8 in newsletter

I received my V8 Newsletter yesterday. There are some pictures of what looks like a truly amazing car built by a fellow in WA state -- Bill Jacobsen, if I remember correctly. This fellow had taken a B shell, faired in some flares and the air dam, and done one heck of a sweet job putting the motor in. No wiring or extra plumbing visible ... JUST the motor!

Usually I prefer bone-stock looking cars, and don't care for flares and so on, but this one seems very sweet indeed.

Also, I didn't know that MGC bolt-on hubs had the same pattern as a Chevy. If they were more widely available, I am sure they'd be just the ticket for many of us.

Are there any pictures of the car on-line? Also, how do you hide all the wiring so well? ... just run it up underneath a fender?
Harry

Harry, the pictures in the newsletter didn't do that car justice. I saw it in cleveland and it is amazing. The owner/builder did a fantastic job with that one.
Bob McClain

Harry,
Living in WA I have heard about the car and really hope to see it. Have to start bringing my camera to meetings and any MG meets..

As for wiring there are options. I have seen people wireloom stuff. trick is to seal up the seam after the cable is inside if you are running it through wheel wells. Otherwise, wire loom it inside the car and in corners before painting and paint it to match the car, you would be surprised how things painted to match can dissapear into corners..

Thank you! I thought I would try some street rodder tricks, and hide the wiring and plumbing as much as possible.
The fuse box is located under the dash on the pass. side. The main harness runs under the right front fender and is sealed in conduit. Engine wiring and front heater hose are routed under the intake manifold.
MGC hubs use a 5 lug x 4 3/4" bolt pattern and are a direct bolt on to MGB spindles. The MGC rotors need to machined to MGB diameters and MGBV8 calipers are required. MGC and MGBV8 rotors are the same thickness. The big draw back it seems, is that all MGCs imported to the USA had wire wheels. I did have a hard time finding mine.
I think there are some pictures in the archives under the clevland 2000 meet.

Bill, your car was the second nicest thing in that newsletter (if you get my drift)!
Ted

Bill,
Errr... I must have missed something, I did not think there were any pictures or photo albums on this website.. Could you provide a link for us??
Larry Embrey

Larry

Larry
That one is Dale Spooner's, it is a nice one indeed! Mine is red with flared fenders and buick 215 with the offenhouser valve covers.

Dale's car is also on my page.

http://www.larryembrey.com/mgb Just go to the photo album section. I also have 9 pages of photos from the 2000 V8 convention.
Larry Embrey

Cool site man! I didn't know you had yours up and running.
mike childress

Mine is BARELY running, as you have likely seen it changes by the hour. I am trying to get things ironed out.

Bill pretty much has his own page. Kurt (Another WA MGB V8 owner) took many pictures of Bill's car.

Great shots, Larry. Terrific.

I can't believe how many V8-ers put the Fiero seats in there! Didn't realize this was getting to be de rigeur.

I now feel positively old and mouldy with my plain-vanilla car! Block-hugger headers, plain old MG interior, frumpy old valve covers; plain old bonnet; it's perfectly clean and in good order, and rather powerful, but I have to remember never to bring it to a V8 meet with you guys, for it and its proprietor will simply be ignored or laughed at.

Bill, your red car car is simply through the roof. Zooty, but _right_ on the money! You've got that motor so far back I'd almost call it a mid-engined car! Massive plaudits for a job superbly done.

Harry

Mine will not be the gem that many at that show were. Mine is going the wolf in sheeps clothing route. Invisible until you open the hood or start it up..

You can thank Kurt B for the photo's (See his MGB V8 with 215 on the Danmas website) he attended the show and took the photos..

MAYBE I can attend next year, though I woul rather spend the $$ on my V8 than airfare...
Larry Embrey

Harry
By all means bring your V8 to the shows!! The best thing about building these cars is we don't have to
follow any rules. Just let your imagination run wild and hope your wallet (and wife) can take the strain!!
Where else can you go and see 20+ V8 MGs that are all different, all have good ideas, and all of them are cool!! You'll fit right in!
