MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Help! New Conversion-No spark
Hi there, Iīm sprinting towards first start up. The engine sits in there but I have got no spark. The engine ran while in the donor car, a 1984 SD1 twin plenum Vitesse. The seller kept the injection so I have bought a Weber 500 from RPI instead. I still have the electronic Constant energy ignition, which might have something to do with my problem. The possible problems in my view. Low battery voltage. The juice runs out after 10 seconds of cranking. Still, the car wonīt start while towed but the good thing is that the engine has good oil preassure. I have not connected the rev counter yet since itīs not converted to eight cylinder pulse. Does that matter? Last but not the least. How do I diagnose a faulty ignition module? All help will be greatly appreciated. Erik |

If your car is an early model, pre '76 or thereabout, the tacho has to be connected because it uses the main (white) ignition line.Or at least bridge the connecting wires. HTHs Barrie E |

Erik - which dizzi - amplifyer - coil (particularly the coil) are you running. The last "No Spark" thread which has just been archived might be a useful start. Roger |

Roger and Barrie, Thanks for your effort. A friend of mine came by today and measured the ignition with a volt/ohm-meter. He realised that the ignition module lacked proper grouding. I HAVE A SWEET RUNNER!!! What a sound. Cheers Erik |

good news - remember to keep a spare ignition module in the glovebox. Roger |
