MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - How To Gice Your MGB V8 Power - Third Edition

Just received my "hot off the press" Third Edition of Roger Williams' "How To Give Your MGB V8 Power"!

WOW!

He has outdone himself. This edition is more comprehensive in many ways and also includes Blue Oval conversions.

Many listers that have a presence on this board contributed to this project and include Dan Masters, Kurt Schley, Pete Mantell, Tom Hoagland, Dan LaGrou, and Larry Shimp. Their input really assisted in putting this edition into a higher level of reference books, in my opinion.

Roger will be a featured guest at British V8 this June in Townsend, and is also attending MG 2006 as a featured author.

Thanks for the great work, Roger and crew!

The ISBN number for this edition is: 1904788939

Thanks for the info Rick. Just ordered mine... does Roger have any more info about brake upgrades such as peugout 505 discs and 4 pot calipers?
Nick Bentley

Chapter Ten is devoted to brakes. While I didn't find a specific mention of the Peugeot conversion, there is a good discussion of four pot calipers, Rover discs, Princess discs, Wilwood discs, etc.

I agree with Rick - Well done, and enough new material to justify buying even if you already have the previous versions. Bring a copy to MG 2006 or British V8 2006 and get Roger to autograph it for you.
Dan Masters

Anyone have a link we can go to to order this new copy?

Jeff Schlemmer

To order the book, go to amazon.com and type in the ISBN #, 1904788939, and then hit the "go" button. You can then preorder the book.

Buy a set of 505 disks (turbo version) and clamp them to your MGB disks. Punch then drill new holes using the MGB ones as a template.
Calipers- princess with spacers.
Or volvo calipers. Press/epoxi some bits of rod into the existing holes and redrill. The new holes end up about 5mm further apart. The halfmoon shaped remains of rod/bolt are unnecessary because the direction of rotation brings the calipers up against the side of the holes. My (and other) shop bought volvo calipers don't have or really need them. It just seems more satisfactory to me (and would make the new holes easier to drill I think).
If it makes you happier then get a brake shop to do it. They will charge you the equilevant of $100 australian (seems to be the minium for anything) for each operation. When you get the calipers reconditioned (a good idea) you can also get them "crossdrilled" and blank off one of the outlets.
Peter

Thanks Peter
I already have the discs and sd1 calipers fitted. Just having a bit of trouble finding any 14" wheels to fit without spacers. I don't want to hijack this thread so if anyone has any advice we could start a new one.
Thanks
Nick
PS Amazon promise to have my new copy to me by the 27th at the latest!

I bought a set from classic conversions after i used the sierra calipers with peugot 505 rotors, i had to use shims etc to make them fit properly i was never really happy with them i also try the volvos calipers
classic conversions kit fit correctly with no mods and are lighter.
