MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - MGB V6 on eBay
Yeah, I know this is the V8 conversion board, and I don't swing that way, but here is a nice looking MGB V6 for sale http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2406573726&category=31857 |

This is indeed a nice looking car(perhaps it is the fresh coat of paint that makes it look so good)He needs to do some work on the front of the car where the air dam meets the grille. I love these guys that simply slap a carburator on a new engine that they could get fuel injection for. After driving a '69 MGB daily for 4 years I have gotten tired of carburators. Not to mention that I hate the way a V6 engine sounds. But as far as the car goes it looks pretty good. http://www.hononwah.freeweb-hosting.com/Index.htm |

Robert, Nice site, might want to look over your title again though. |

Robert, Nice car and the LT1 is inspired, but it will still be pretty doggone heavy ... if I recall, quite a bit more portly than an LS1. Good call to move it rearward, but does that mean you have to lose the heater? ... trim the footwells? I think a T56 is not the best choice for gearbox, only because it's very _w-i-d-e_. The Sebring kit will be killer but I trust you are putting in a fuel cell so that if you get rear-ended without a bumper it doesn't do the Ford Pinto thing. Lastly, I would guess that the Mustang II front end will be super if it's the right width to begin with Which for a Sebring setup it probably is. I've learned a lot about front ends with my E-Type V8 conversion and the key to minimizing bump steer is to use exactly the right width steering rack and situate it exactly where the designers planned. I got so paranoid about it that I scrapped plans to use a 'Vette front suspension -- even with a custom-length steering rack -- and I am sticking with the Jag parts in front but for brakes. (Oh, except that I had to lose the torsion bar boxes to get the V8 in, and go to coil-overs! ... but that's another story.) |

Looks nice, but I agree with Ted about weight. One other little teeny tiny issue is that the 4.3L is a TRUCK engine. Probably has the 497Lb flywheel and so on. Most 4.3L V6 motors that I come across have such a heavy reciprocating mass that they take forever to come back down to an idle. Or so it seems. Not the greatest motor for the MG B conversion package, but it is a really pretty little car though. -BMC. |

And another... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2406683623&category=31857 |

Man, that red car looks like one Godalmighty POS! (Sorry for the lack of tact, but I gotta call 'em like I see 'em!) |

..and, oh, the seller says, did I forget to mention it has no seats! But I do have lots of manuals. |

I did consider weight as an issue in my conversion, but the LT1 only weighs 525 lbs or so with all accessories. By my calculations that is about 160 lbs more than the MG engine. I did consider the LS1 engine, but due to a price tag of about $6,500 for a new engine and computer or a $3,500 to $4,500 for a used one, I figured the LT1 was worth the weight. I only paid 2,000 for the entire wrecked Camaro (which actualy had a corvette block in it). The T56 is wide, but after driving a LS1 camaro and a 69 MGB for the last several years I figured that tranny would do an excellent job. But as you saw I am sure, the transmission hump has been obliterated beyond the stock dimensions. We will be installing a fuel cell to pick up a few gallons capacity and so it doesn't fireball in a collision. |
Robert |
Jake- could I ask what is wrong with my title? I am not sure I understand. |
Robert |
Robert, Look at your title on this page http://www.hononwah.freeweb-hosting.com/home/home.htm What Jake was probably pointing out was that you claim to have a "MBG GT V8" Vice a "MGB GT V8" |
andy heston |
Robert, Sorry I shouldve been more forthcoming with specifics. Andy is right, I noticed it says Welcome to the homepage of Robert's MBG GT V8 Nothing major, just so you know. Looks like a great conversion, cant wait to hear how it runs. Jake |
Jake |
Would I do better to change it to "Welcome to the homepage of Robert's MGB GT V8 conversion"? |
Robert |
Sure, if you want. I was just trying to be helpful, didn't want to step on toes or anything. |
Jake |
Not a problem- I was just wondering if a different title would have been more appropriate. No offense taken. |
Robert |
Robert did you mean to print mbg or not and if you did why. |
dbw morris |
Perhaps, considering its new driveline, it should be GMB |
Jack |
Ok, my mistake- I am so used to reading MGB that I didn't even pick up on the misspelling. I appreciate yall looking out for me. I have looked at the page many many times and never picked up on it. A simple typo. Thanks for pointing that out- it is fixed. |
