MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Modern rear calipers
Been looking at converting to rear disc brakes, I see from Tony Barnhill's site how the Saab rotors fit nicely, but want to avoid the use of two seperate calipers per side. I've seen a few small calipers that might work, just wanted more info/feedback. Integra calipers look to work as do Miata calipers, just have to make the parking brake cable turn 90 degrees with a bracket and roller or some kind so they pull tight in the right direction and make a bracket to mount them. Anything else I should know before I attempt this? |

Saw somewhere that the VW GTI rear calipers from the mid 80's had a built-in parking brake. Some years back saw a thread where someone had used them on the rear. |

Jake, In UK a kit available but a bit expensive http://www.hispecmotorsport.co.uk/mgb.htm Paul |

Mitsu Eclipse calipers. Small bore, .400 rotor, integral e-brake with good mechanism for retracting the piston for pad changes. Flange plate mount. Jim |

Jim, Nice sounding setup, do you have a set? Mind snapping a pic if youve got them? |

280 and 300ZX's is what I'm using. The rotors are the same 4 on 4.5 as MGB. |

Steve, Do the rotors fit right over the rear hub? Are you using those calipers too? How is your parking brake set up? |

Im using Rover 800 rear discs with Ford sierra calipers, works very well. |

Jake, still working on my car. I have a 9" in my car but the rotors fit right on the hub. The "Z" calipers have an arm that come off of them which I'm going to run cables to the "B" hand brake via a 2 to 1 bar. Look in street rod mags there are a few companys that will make cables. |

The best caliper that I have found to work well on the rear is from a Fiero and some front wheel GM cars. These calipers are alum, have a parking brake build in easy to adapt, and they are lite. |

went trawlin' through the local pick and pull, found a couple of 280zx's and those calipers look like they will work the best, the parking brake is actuated by a cable that pulls in toward the center of the car much like the MGB. Maybe on tuesday Ill go pick em up and see what we can make of them. Thanks for all the input. |
