MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - New 17' Minilites wheels
I just got new wheels for my BV8, they are made by American Racing and come in 15X7 and17X7 and look like minilite wheels and they are cheaper then minilites at $155 each! I am running 205/45ZR/17 tires and it rides great, better then when I had 15X 5.5" minilite replicas with 195/60/15. here is a photo http://rebornco.com/mgbv8/summery/newwheels.jpg |

Look good....What design are they from American Racing? |

They are Silverstone R wheels. AR even makes a Silverstone Custom that you can order with almost any offset and bolt pattern. http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=223&name=Silverstone%20R&style=40&desc=1-piece%20painted/machined%20alloy§ion=V http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp?wheelid=196&name=Silverstone%20Custom%20Offset&style=401&desc=2-piece%20painted%20center,%20polished%20rim§ion=V These wheels just came on the market! I will put a hurting on Panasport. |

They do look nice, where did you get your Hood made up? I have a similiar set up but yurs looks a little better. |

They look nice. I think something along that order will be my next mod. I now have the 15x5.5 Minilite replicas and am not satisfied with them. |

I always thought 17's would look good on a B. Cool wheels! |
Justin |
Hey Peter, The top was made by Prestige auto trim UK and it is the RV8 style top in Mohair. http://www.prestigeautotrim.com/usa/usa/tops/mgb_cabriolet.htm |

Evan, those wheels look great on your car. I think part of what makes 'em work is the rear arch on your car... i really like how you rounded it out -- hadn't noticed that before but it's a great touch! That plus the RV8 top & shaved handles give the car a great updated look that works with the bigger wheels! Did you change the front arch any? |
x Ficalora |
Evan Interesting. Ilike the shaved handles. How did you accomplish that? Bruce |
Bruce Mills |
Thanks Evan, Alot better than mine looking at their advert'. More expensive though. You pay for what you get I guess. The trick is not to pay for what you don't get! |
Peter |
Evan, I'm in the middle of an engine conversion, retaining the original rearend in my 71' GT. Did the 17" rims knock your top gear cruising rpm down a little? |
Tracy |
Tracy Check your local regulations about changing overall wheel size. Thats diameter of wheel with tyre. Quite strict in Australia. I went up to 15 inches but had to reduce my tyre profile down to 60 to stay within bounds. |
