MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Real Minilites
I'm not getting much response on the MGB Technical page regarding a Minilite wheel question so thought I'd try here. I'm using 15"x8" wheels with 205/60-15 on my V8 roadster/Sebring conversion and have run into a small problem with the supplied hub caps on the rear wheels. When installed, the axle hub pushes out the centre of the hub cap. The fronts are no problem. The only mod to the rear axle was MGC gears installed. Anyone out there run into this problem? Unlike minilite-clones, these hub caps push into the wheel centre from the back. I've written to Minilite-UK but no answer yet. It's not a huge problem but with what these wheels cost, I don't think I should have to think about things like this. Ideas, as always, are appreciated. Cheers Simon |

I can't answer your question, but am interested in putting a similar setup on my car. Can you tell me what offset you're using to match up the 15X8's and Sebring flares? Thanks. |

Doug, Best I can tell you is, I'm not sure of the wheel measurements. If you want the specs, contact www.minilite.co.uk This is where I got mine from. I found their site and after looking around, I found a GT with the Sebring kit and just asked them what size wheels were used on that car. If you want to see what they look like on the car, contact me off-site and I can send some pics. |

Simon, I was checking a Sebring Saturday and it had same problem re rear Doug Smith is a bit of Sebring specilaist http://www.mgmotorsport.co.uk/ This site provides more info than Minilite http://www.superlite-wheels.com/technical.html Doug 22mm should be standard offset and 195'S were used on Sebring I checked but it is possible to squeeze a 215 into standard set up with a bit of lip rolling and interference on front. I would start with standard wheels (check the offset) which I assume you have and then decide if you wish to widen track. Paul |

Simon had the same problem with my 6 x 15 KN miniltes it is caused by the split pins on the rear hubs. Cure is to cut the split pins as short as is safe and wrap the tails as tight to the nut as possible it worked on mine. Kevin Jackson. |

Thanks guys. Glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem. I just heard back from Minilite and unfortunately, they've not heard about this problem. There is a longer hub cap available but requires re-drilling the centre hole. Not what I want to do. Paul- I'll check out the sites, thanks! Kevin- Good idea. I'll give it a try. I have noticed I have a nice impression of the axle hub on the inside of the cap so here's hoping I can get rid of that. I could always go for the racer look and leave the caps off......no, maybe not!! Cheers Simon |
