MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - RHD to LHD conversion
Folks, Can some one advise me how extensive the conversion of a B-V8 from RHD to LHD (for US use) would be. I expect that I would need a LHD steering rack and dash, but that the pedal box, and coulomn would transfer. wiring loom would need extending and I expect some engine parts parts would also require moving?? Further info and parts required plus an idea of the time taken from anyone who has undertaken this would be appreciated. Many thanks James |

I had a factory G.T. V-8 that I took the 3500 out & put in a 4.2 with F/I & all the parts were the same in the engine bay, so I see no mods in the engine bay & it sounds that you have all the bases covered with the other parts that need to be changed. |

Paul, Ah hah, not so straight forward for a V8, but certainly do-able, many thanks. James |

Some of the V8ers hafta move their motors just slightly off center (i.e. they use different motor mounts R/L) to allow the steering rack to clear. Sounds like a thankless task but agreed it's a must. |

James....I want to convert a 4-banger from left drive to right drive - maybe we can swap pieces as I've got everything left & you've got everything right! All it would cost either of us is shipping across the big pond! |

Anthony, I did that to a '66 several years ago and it was a piece of cake. I got the parts (minus the dash) delivered from the MGOC much cheaper than anyone else quoted. It took about 5 hours to complete. |

Anthony, It's a sound offer, but I'm currently researching a Factory v8 purchase and then possibly moving to the US in several years time. Regards James |
