MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Roger Williams new V8 Power book
I ordered one of the "How to Give Your MGB V8 Power" from Amazon.com on March 19. It was promised to me between April 6 to 8. Here it is May 30 and still no book. All I get at their web site is: Need to cancel an item? I was really hoping to have the book well before the British V8 2006 meet. Does anyone know hwat is happening with this book? Regards, Jack |

Jack, I don't know for sure what's happening, but I would be willing to bet the problem lies with Veloce, the publisher. I have a copy of it, and I can tell you it will be well worth the wait. This edition puts the previous editions in the shade. I got an advance copy from the publisher (in return for some small contributions I made to it), so I know it is already in print. Not having it available to the consumer is inexcusable on the part of Veloce (if indeed the fault is theirs). I know for a fact that Roger completed the book months ago. Hopefully, you will get yours in time to have Roger autograph it in Townsend. |

I have a similar story to John....still waiting Regards tony |

I talked with Amazon last week. They indicated that the release date had been delayed. I believe they said it would be the first part of July before it is available. |

I will try to find out. rick |

I am also waiting impatiently for a copy! |
Jeff Schlemmer |
I'm also on the amazon wait list.... |
Mike Maloney |
Jack, they decided to add about 4 chapters of V6 stuff. No, no really, I guess there are slow plublishing the book. |
Bill Guzman |
I corresponded with Roger....he was unaware of this glitch and is checking with Veloce. rick |

I ordered this book directly from Veloce on the internet for one month ago. Had it in the post two days later.......... |

I am waiting on Amazon as well. Ordered it immediately after news of this book was announced in this bulliten board. Oh well, these things happen. Gotta be patient. Dave |

Beginning to sound as though this is an Amazon - or- an Amazon/Veloce problem. rick |

This just in from Roger: ***************************** Hi Rick (&Dan), I emailed Veloce as soon as I saw the thread (for which I thank you both) & got the following reply a few minutes ago - (Quote) The MGB V8 book has been available for some time and has been successfully ordered and dispatched from us. Amazon orders are dealt with by our distributors: in the UK that is Orca, in the USA by MBI. We have not been made aware of any distribution problems but will follow up on this lead and keep you posted.(Unquote) (I think MBI stands for Motor Books International) While I don't think this is wonderfully contructive in the short-term, we have to read it in the context that once Veloce ship a distributors order the subsequent distribution is neither their responsibility nor something where they become involved in the detail. I SUSPECT that Amazon USA may have got their ordering wrong, have run out of stock & are awaiting quantity deliveries which, in the case of Amazon-USA, may take a little time in view of the distances involved. Perhaps demand has been higher that Amazon anticipated but I'm sure you'll agree that once the initial print run is complete (which I know to be the case) it is not in Veloce's interests not to fill a distributor's orders - so I feel the problem is almost certainly with the local distribution company. Some constructive suggestions - 1) Order on Veloce direct, although airmail shipping to the US will prove expensive 2) Order on Amazon UK (same shipping expense, though) 3) Try MBI (if they accept direct orders) or ask MBI who has stocks & order on them I hope something there helps - atvb, Roger |

I like to use this shopping bot when looking for books: http://www.bestwebbuys.com/1904788939 According to it, Amazon says it has not been released So, they don't have any. Don't know if any of the other sources actually have it in stock. I think I will call Books-A-Million. |
Carl Floyd |
Jack, Cancel your order with Amazon. I just ordered it from Books-A-Million. Called the 800 number. I was told that they have 24 more copies. |
Carl Floyd |
Hi, Mr. G, I guess 3/4 of an engine is still better then 1/2 ! ! ! :-) (All-it's just a joke-no flames) See you in TN Bill. Hi, Carl, Amazon order is cancelled. I ordered from Books-A-Million. Thanks for the heads up! Regards, Jack |
John Renaud |
Like Carl, Just cancelled Amazon and ordered from BAM Regards Tony |
Tony Bates |

Steve Carrick |
Cancelled Amazon, ordered through Books a Million..cheaper too since I was a BAM member..thanks for the heads up Carl! |
Mike Maloney |

Bill Guzman |

Steve Carrick |
Steve....is Caledonia the town where we go to the restaurant each year during Ted's gathering? I believe that the girl who was mistakenly identified by the coroner had family from there....rick |

Giys, Here's the latest word from Roger: Here's the situation direct from the CEO of Veloce - The initial order sent to the USA sold out in a few days after release in early May. A follow-up order will not reach MBI until mid June earliest and that's unlikely as recently there have been major customs hold ups in Chicago. He also notes that you can buy direct from Veloce, and I will have order forms here in Townsend. |
Dan Masters |
Won't be long, guys. Mine arrived today! |
Carl Floyd |
I recd my book today, too! Thanks again, Carl. Regards, Jack |
John Renaud |
Bring your books to Townsend and Roger can autograph them for you if you wish. rick |
rick ingram |
I just received my copy also. What great service. Thanks Carl for your input. See you in TN. Paul |
Paul Schils |
Thank Carl! I just got confirmation that mine was shipped from Amazon! |
Jeff Schlemmer |
Question - does Amazon squeeze lower prices out of the distributor and if so are they at the bottom of the list when stock is short? I have bought many books from Amazon in the UK and Germany but the only brand new titles have been the last 2 Harry Potter books. For my children I must stress. |
David Witham |
I just recieved an e-mail from Amazon that my order has been shipped. It has been over 2 months, but will be worth the wait. I hope this means everyone else will have theirs shortly. |
P Harrington |
I just got a note from Roger saying that Veloce will send me via air mail 24 copies of the book in time for the V8 show. If you aven't already ordered your book, plan on picking up a copy here in Tennessee. And get Roger to Autograph it for you. |
Dan Masters |
Would have done that, had I known. |
Carl Floyd |
Got mine yesterday from Veloce directly in 2 days. I also have the early edition which is well thumbed, but the new book is miles better and certainly worth having even if you have the earlier book. Terrific information and loads of colour photos. A big thanks to Roger Williams - good work! Mike |
Mike Howlett |
i just got mine from Amazon. Great stuff, not much on brakes. He only shows the Uk stuff with Wilwood calipers and others. i have bill guzman's big brake kit which appears to be much better than what he shows in the book, they really work great and no mods. I specially like the section on the Ford V8 and the elctrical section, i think I am going to buy dan's wiring kit now. well done roger! Hope to meet you at the 06 mg bash. red 74 GT 3.5 Buick this car was done mainly with the information on his first book, now i may do a ford v8 great information. |
