MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Rover engine help!!!!
Hey All, No one answered my last question on water pump bolts, so here is a general question on bolts period. Can anyone out there tell us if a 80 Rover 3.5 engine uses SAE bolts? We are sure they are not metric, but is there something else it uses??????? Thanks, Evie |

What is SAE? I thought all the bolts were UNF on steel to steel and those that bolt directly into the ally block are UNC, that is Unified Fine and Unified Course |

Society of Automotive Engineers I believe, which I think is the same as UNF. Stainzy |

Correct about SAE. They can be UNF (fine) or UNC (course). |

of course it's coarse... |

Hi All, once again! So, it looks like the engine might be using sizes like 1/4-20 and 5/16-20 as we suspected it might in some areas? (Ones currently in quesiton are for the water pump on a Rover 3.5 and there are two different sizes for sure.) Thanks much, Evie |
