MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - RV8 sub frame connectors
Does anyone have dimensions for the reinforcements connecting the front spring hanger (rear spring) to the unibody cross member forward of the spring mount? I have a chance to get some 16 ga galvanized bent up, and would like to duplicate those used on the RV8. |

Hi Jim, Page 57 of "How to improve MGB, MGC and Mgb V8" I can scan it into a pdf and email to you tomorrow if needed. If you are making a set, why not make two sets and I'll buy the other set from you Regards Tony |

This reinforcement is for hold the anti tramp bars, to the rv8 it’s long, long, too long, I built my own brackets, no problems. Regards http://membres.lycos.fr/mgcontact/fileupload/uploads/1146215539_antitrampb.jpg http://membres.lycos.fr/mgcontact/fileupload/uploads/1146215539_rosejoint.jpg |

Jim - I have these on my car and could take pictures and record dimensions. This weekend, I will see if I can squeeze under the car enough to get pictures. Dimensions should not be a problem to measure. |

Tony, if you could e-mail me the info, I would appreciate it. Scott, if Tony sends the info, no reason to crawl under but I would enjoy the pictures if you are under there anyway. Don't know if/when I am getting the connectors made, the gentleman who operates the brake has just quit, but I am hopeful I can get one of the other shop guys to give it a try. |

Anyone else contemplating this mod. might be interested in the method I used. I used rectangular sectioned steel tubing ( there is a technical name for this stuff, but it escapes me right now ) 2"x 1"x 1/8" @ 21 1/2" long. I butt welded one end to the cross member & the other to the spring hanger. It fitted just inside the vertical sides. It doesn't need to be attached to the floor, so eliminating the need to remove the seats & carpet. It does lie directly under the outside rear seat retaining bolt, which might need to be shortened. Or drill a hole in the tubing to clear the seat anchor nut. As an after thought, similar sized channel iron would probably do just as well. Barrie E PS Add my name to Dan's townsend list. BE |

Barrie, That would be RHS (rectangular hollow section) I assume? Dom |

Dom, that's correct. Thank you, Barrie E |
