MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Some question about conversion

Hello,

I have a Rover SD1 gearbox and I want use it with the standard rear axle Salisbury. Wich driveshaft can I use?

GKN will make you a special propshaft to connect the two.

It will have to be made specially for you, but lots of companies can do that. You will need to measure the length from gearbox flange to axle flange.

If you switch to a MGC axle, you can use the SD1 flange on the rear. Something to think about before you have the shaft built.

If you have mounted the engine in the stock V8 position, V8 Conversions at Farnborough Kent may have a prop shaft in stock. Give Dave Vale a call 01689 858716 Suggest you measure flange to flange so you can make sure it will be the correct length.

I used the SD1 drive shaft, had it shortend and made an adaptor plate to match the MGB rear end. real close fit. I did not like the size of the U joints on the MGB unit.
