MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Speedo Cable for SD1 Gearbox

I am sure this is an easy one for all you enthusiasts out there. I snapped the speedo cable (or at least I hope it proves to be the cable) last night and would like to know if I need a special cable to connect the factory (small) speedo to the SD1 gearbox. Thanks.

As you are in Nottingham why not use the local guys; they will make any cable to order (often while you wait), but carry almost evrything conceivable in stock, they also rebuild and calibrate mechanical instruments:-

I have used them for MANY years, and generally they are very responsive, although you will have to wait a while for a speedo rebuild/recalibrate.

Intrument Repair Services (IRS) is also a Nottingham company whoi do all the calibrated speedos and other specialist spares to suit. I have no contacts details here, but wouldn't be surprised to see a connection with the above comapany.

Back in 1985 when I did my conversion I simply removed the gearbox end flange mounting of the cable and replaced it with a 'top hat' shaped SD1 (and many others) type. I used an OD cable which is longer.

Thanks to you all. Speedograph Richfield made one up for me while I waited at a reasonable price. Its nice that such service can still be had in this modern world.
