MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Three questions

1) Does anyone know how to get in touch with Brian Walker? He has been at almost all of the V8 meets, but not at Grand Rapids last month. Just wondering if he is OK.
2) I have been looking for a set of Mickey Thompson cast aluminum valve covers for the Olds 215. By chance does anyone have a pair available or know where some are? They appear in several years of '60's M/T parts catalogs, so there are apparently a few sets out there somewhere. I am putting together a 289"/ 215-based stroker motor using all the internals from M/T and the valve covers would be a nice touch.
3) Anyone know of a camshaft source which might have a 215 roller cam blank. I need a roller cam ground for the above project but all the mainstream cam sources, Crane, Isky, etc. do not have blanks for the 215.

kurt, did you try the web site classicbuicks.com they may have the parts you are looking for, jim

Kurt,

Did you specifically ask about the Buick 300 & 340 while you were at it?

Other cam companies:

www.amotion.com
www.camcraftcams.com
www.schneidercams.com

A 215 roller cam is probably right up there with hens teeth.

James - Thanks for the suggestion. I checked Classicbuicks. They apparently only deal in new items. I believe the M/T valve covers were only made in the sixties. I will be at the Carlisle swap meet for the next three days.....please God, please God, please God!

Carl, I will check out all three cam makers. Tom Rosser called, he suggested contacting Trane (Train?)Cams. Apparenly they make the roller blanks for many of the other cam companies. I will report the result on the Bulletin Board. Thanks!

Kurt if Those fail give Delta Cams, in Tacoma, WA a call. They are a local shop here that grinds cams. They have a greements with comp cams to copy thier profiles or they can grind up something custom. Good prices to, and nice people.

Kurt- so what are you going to do with an antique tire changer?
Jim Stuart

Hi Jim,
Guess you talked to Dan LaGrou at Carlisle on Saturday. I purchased a Bishman Model 880 tire changer ($40)which seems to work well. Electric and air operated. With all the cars, tractors, trailers, etc. It will be nice to be able to change tires at home. (assuming I can figure out how it works, am trying to find a manual now.)Just have to find a spin balancer now. Not much 215 stuff at Carlisle, a worn out Olds block, a set of low-compression Olds heads priced WAY too much. A 4bbl manifold which had been milled for a Holley carb. There was a kinda interesting Rootes type supercharger set up for a 215 but the guy wanted $1000 for it. It was in desperate need of a rebuild and was not very well made. Did find 11 215/Rover valley cover gaskets for $50 lot. Was lots of fun looking around for three days.
