MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Traction bar kits??? ...
What is the best traction bar kit for the chrome-bumper BV8? I'm aware of only three alternatives -- if there's a better one please advise: 1. Moss -- I take it these may not stand up to a V8's torque; no welding needed; pretty good ground clearance 2. British Automotive -- I take you need to run composite springs, but the fabrication is clean; no welding needed and good ground clearance 3. Towery's -- I take it these require a good deal of welding, and may be a bit rough in the execution; ?ground clearance OK? If anyone can make a recommendation of one of these kits or something else, that'd be great. My V8 needs traction bars, no doubt about it. |

Bob, Frontline have developed a rear traction control link, from single seater racing, the Demo car has 220bhp at wheels, has adjustable pivot bars to adjust roll centre. I'm still investigating. Paul |

1. Moss bars are for 4-cylinder...too light for V8 2. British Automotive's bars are the classy way ot go; I have them...however, to use them, you'll also need to use Doug Jackson's composite springs. 3. Glenn's bars are easily fabricated yourself |

Glenn's bars have worked really well for me over the past 6 years, and easy to fabricate. |

Martyn, do you by chance have a picture you could post? |

I have just had some made from the MGV8 Newsletter that is published. I also had a template that I made for the machinist to cut for me. The template fits on the body of the car and the drawing fits on the spring/axle. They cost me about $50 but I don’t yet have the bar that goes between them. The parts did fit very well on the car. I can send you the drawings that I used if you would like. Also, do you live in Charleston, SC or WV? |
