MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Trouble selecting reverse

Hi,
we have an MGB V8 conversion fitted with a Rover SD1 engine.
we can't seem to select reverse - down and to the left.

Any advice - suggestions?

If it's a LT77 box try up to the left.

Sometimes the selector detent gets full of Sh&t and is difficult to push over. Try spraying a bunch of WD40 into the selector mechanism. If it shifts OK then you should clean and re-lube the entire assembly.

But you won’t find reverse down and to the left no matter how much WD40 you spray into the selector mechanism.

Up then left gets you into first, its hard left then up, don't need to push down towards the floor at all.
