MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - TwinCam @ V8 Meet--Thanks

I wasn't registered for the V8 meet in Townsend last week. I just got to town a few days early for the Gatlinburg gathering and stopped by a few times to see what you fellows were up to (now!). In transit from Maryland to Townsend, my '59 Twin Cam developed a troublsome coolant leak. Many of you offered various words of wisdom and I just wanted to say thanks and that I made it home ok.

I decided on the "pressure cap on safety" suggestion and headed out through the mountains in the cool morning air directly towards the lower altitudes of the coastline--keeping one eye darn near glued to the temp guage--it never went above 195 the entire ride home and, I only replaced 8 ounces of coolant for the 800 mile ride.

Well anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all that took the time to evaluate and offer suggestions. Now its back to the radiator shop that did the work.

Cheers,

Saw your car in passing while you were in the parking lot Paul, and thought, "How neat!" Guess you already know but you're welcome any time.

Be sure to venture out to the Salt Flats....and Wendover Air Base...while you're out there, Pete!

Wendover is where they trained for some very famous bombing runs in WWII....and films such as ConAir and Independence Day were filmed there as well!

Paul, I'm pretty sure you're not talking about this car, are you?

(I'm terrible with names, but this white MGA is one of the few cars I haven't matched an owner's name to yet.)

Jim wrote: "Guess you already know but you're welcome any time"... I second that!

Curtis,

That is Jeff Fields next to his stock (as in 4 cylinder) MGA. He came down with his V8 friend you see in the pic (name escapes me). I believe they are from Ohio.

Paul,

I saw you're Twin Cam twice in Townsend just as I was going somewhere. It was good to meet you in Gatlinberg and I'm sorry I didn't get to your tech session. Your Twin Cam is really nice. I have a special appreciation for MGAs with four wheel dunlop disk brakes and pin drive knock off disk wheels.
