MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - V8 Inlet Manifold Paint
Hi Chaps, I've obtained a factory V8 original induction system for my B, and am in the process of stripping and restoring it. The inlet manifold has some paint loss, and I am struggling to find a paint to redo it as near to the original dark grey finish as possible. Anyone done this, and if so, what paint did you use? Many thanks, AB |

I used Plastikote grey, which looked quite close to what was already on there. Done eight years (although only 20k) and no sign of cracking or peeling (yet ...).

Paul What is that hole between the two inlet ports? I made my own copy of the factory unit and I have not seen that hole before. I powdercoated my manifold and it has proved very durable over 8 years. Ian |

Thanks Paul - nice job, just how I want mine to look!! I have located the Plasticote colour on the web - I take it it is medium grey gloss. Did you strip off all the old paint first, and did you prime it? Cheers, AB |

Yes, stripped it back to the metal. If the can called for a primer then I would have used it, can't recall doing so though. Thought I might still have had the can but no. Had a clear-out a few months back, breaking the habit of a lifetime, pending a house move. |

PS - found the cans, it is medium grey, and I used their primer as well. |
