MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Year of car?

Anyone know what year a car with the serial number GHN5UH436286 would be?

Thanks,
Jim
Jim Blackwood

Jim,
It appears to be a 1977 roadster built sometime in '77 calendar year.

The "H" in the VIN refers to 1977. Car number is 436286

My '77 has the VIN GHN5UH417788 which, according to the Heritage Certificate, had a build date of 8-13 October 1976.
Simon Austin

My 1978 MGB has a "J"...and was built in March.

I do not believe that Abingdon used an "I" in the VIN..

Jim, the last digit (6) sifnifies that it's a Factory V6 :-)

....Ya gotta love big Bill's warped sense of humour. Is that an "8" I see before the "6"?
Missed you at the Cleveland meet big guy...better plan now for Elkhart Lake in 2008!
Graham Creswick

Weird firing order, Bill....4-3-6-2-8-6

You guys are having too much fun with this ;)
It's a stock 4 cylinder for Pete's sake! What it will end up as is an unknown at this point but as soon as I get the steering unlocked it's going in the barn and will stay there until Edith saves up some money for it and the seller delivers the title. Cleaned up pretty decent though.

Jim...is there a plate on the driver's side door jamb? It *should* have a month/year of manufacture.
rick ingram

Born May 1977. Thanks

YES, I sure missed not going, but, I had promise the grand kids a trip. I will be there next year for sure Graham. I saw some pictures of your car, as always, great looking.

BTW. the 8 before the 6 means that they changed their minds and schedule assembly for a V6 It could also mean a possibility for a V8. The folks a BMC were never sure of production #'s

Jim, when you say "Petes Sake" Does that mean you are considering a V8 Ford???
Bill Guzman

I would certainly consider it Bill, but Edith wouldn't go along with it. Much more likely that her car might end up with a V6 if she balks at the cost of a hybrid conversion. And since I just got a line on a second 2004r transmission, the Buick 3.8 is looking mighty good. Those dinky little 60* V6's won't bolt up apparently.

Hi Bill,

Yes indeed we missed you.

So how is your Ford 302 V8 project going?

A couple of folks said they stopped by your shop earlier this year and saw you installing a Ford V8......

Cheers

4 Pete's sake :)

Hello Mr Pete. Yes!I really missed seing your happy smiles faces.
Ford 5.0 FI in a Alpine 6 yrs ago and a MGB in progress. There are for friends. I do not do any work for customers, keeps my creative side away from the real fun work.

The MGB will have frame extensions among other things that are really needed for a strocker 347 ci Ford. the real problem is going to be the short wheel base of the B. Traction will be handle by our new 4 link that should be ready to market soon.

Are selling radiators for this Fords?

See you next year.
Bill Guzman

Hi Bill,

Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town.

Yes I do sell Aluminum Radiators for the Ford 302 Conversion, plus a few other goodies.... :)

I will send you an email.

Cheers
